Abufares Tartoussi

Blogger and Urban Planner
Abufares is a Syrian blogger from Tartous. He lived in the USA in the 1970's and 1980's where he earned his Master's Degree in City & Regional Planning and worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, a flight instructor and a commercial pilot. He is based in Tartous now but he continues to travel all over the world - although in a back seat in economy class. From his small architectural firm he acts as a consultant for various projects involved in the rehabilitation and urban planning of his old city. He is as passionate about the small pleasures in life as he is about pre-monotheist Levantine history. His interests and writings vary from the absurd to the brilliant, or so he likes to think.
